Microsoft: Patent veredict is overturned
This past tuesday a federal court reversed a previous ruling that said that their product activation technology was infringing on a pre-existing patent. The amount involved is 388 million dollars.
"We are pleased that the court has vacated the jury verdict and entered judgment in favor of Microsoft," Microsoft spokesman Kevin Kutz said in a statement.
Microsoft's win comes as other cases are pending regarding another patent case related to the custom XML feature in some versions of Word. Microsoft could face paying more than $200 million as well as halt sales of the products that include the feature.
